Sleeping Bags for Camping and Hiking Trips

Sleeping bags provide warmth and comfort for outdoor sleeping. They come in different shapes, insulation types, and temperature ratings.

  • Shapes: Mummy bags (lightweight and heat-efficient), rectangular bags (spacious but less heat-retentive), and semi-rectangular bags (a balance between comfort and warmth).
  • Insulation: Down-filled (lightweight, compressible, and warm but less effective when wet) and synthetic-filled (affordable, quick-drying, and insulates even when damp).
  • Temperature Ratings: Choose based on expected conditions—summer bags (above 35°F/2°C), three-season bags (20–35°F/-7 to 2°C), and winter bags (below 20°F/-7°C).

For backpacking, lightweight and compressible bags are ideal, while camping bags prioritize comfort and space.
